The Historic Environment: policy and practice Vol 14, No 2, 2023
The Historic Environment: policy and practice (Vol 14, No 2, 2023) concerns itself principally with the heritage implications of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. The papers deal with issues such as the archaeological monitoring of war-torn Ukraine, contested heritage, and the reluctance of the USA to accept the terms of the 1954 Hague Convention. On a UK-related note there is a paper by Richard Newman entitled ‘Lest We Forget: the archaeology of warfare, conservation, interpretation and engagement in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire’. This explains the significance of conflict archaeology, the legacy of bomb damage in Hull and continuing community engagement.
